The American citizen who was detained on drug charges in Moscow has been identified as Travis Leake, a manager for a rock band.

 




According to a statement on Moscow's courts of general jurisdiction's Telegram account, a US citizen has been detained in Russia.


 The man was taken into custody on Saturday, and the Khamovniki District Court of Moscow has imposed a preventive measure against him. The court statement identified him as "Travis Michael Leek," although this spelling of his name has been disputed.



 The man is a former paratrooper and musician who is accused of participating in the narcotics business by luring young people, according to the statement. He appeared in court on June 10 and will stay in custody until August 6, 2023. 




The man's mother, who was contacted by CNN, confirmed that her son's name is Michael Travis Leake, and he goes by the name Travis.


 The US State Department has acknowledged that a US citizen has been detained in Moscow and stated that it is working to provide appropriate consular assistance.
